Challenge
Redeveloping over a waterfront
The project involves the demolition of the existing property and construction of a new reinforced concrete home featuring both an internal and external swimming pool, with accommodation extending over multiple storeys including a new basement level
Solution
Focusing on smart and efficient design
Calcinotto were appointed to provide full civil and structural engineering services, covering the design of the reinforced concrete frame, basement structure and drainage systems. Our design integrates high-end architectural finishes with robust structural detailing suitable to a marine environment.
The basement structure was designed to resist hydrostatic pressures from the local groundwater conditions while maintaining stability during excavation and construction
Alongside the structural design, we provided civil engineering input for the drainage network, coordinating new foul and surface water connections to the existing public system. The design accounts for sustainable discharge and attenuation where infiltration was not feasible due to the site’s coastal ground conditions.
