Redefining a 1970s space
Working with AWW Architects and Integrated Health Projects (IHP), Calcinotto delivered structural solutions to adapt the existing 1970s warehouse for modern use. The scheme has consolidated the operations of one of the UK’s most iconic television production sites, including EastEnders, while retaining the historic character of the building.
Solution
Our work included assessing and upgrading the structural frame, designing new circulation routes, and integrating bold new structural elements within the existing building fabric. Close coordination was required with MEP upgrades to improve overall building performance and sustainability.
Calcinotto supported delivery of the project on a fast-track eight-month programme within a live studio environment, ensuring the building was robust, functional, and suited to the BBC’s operational needs.
