4 Lawrence Drive is a new three storey residential home with a basement swimming pool and entertainment area.
Challenge
An overhaul mixing modern & contemporary architecture
Lawrence Drive offers view across Parkstone Golf Club, founded and 1909 and out to Poole Harbour, the largest natural harbour in Europe.
The building consists of a superstructure of traditional load bearing masonry construction with a mix between precast concrete and in-situ concrete floors. The roof is predominantly timber rafters supported on localised steel frames and masonry walls.
Solution
Transforming the landscape into tranquility
To address significant elevation changes across the site, we engineered large, centralised feature steps. These steps not only provide structural connectivity between levels but also incorporate a cascading water feature, blending functionality with artistic detail. The thoughtful design ensures a seamless transition between the various tiers while enhancing the overall visual impact of the space.
The lower level of the property was designed to integrate key recreational and functional elements. A swimming pool and pool house were strategically positioned to frame the property’s panoramic views, while hidden features such as a football pitch and sun lounging areas were incorporated to provide leisure opportunities without disrupting the design’s harmony.
To complement the structured spaces, a decked boardwalk and hidden terrace were added, providing access to the surrounding landscape and creating a serene vantage point. This project demonstrates our expertise in addressing technical challenges and delivering tailored engineering solutions that balance precision, functionality, and design excellence.
