Today marked a joyous occasion celebrating dedication and teamwork as Her Royal Highness, the Princess of Wales, officially inaugurated Hope Street.

A community supporting women in the justice system

Since 2019, Calcinotto & Snug Architects have collaborated with One Small Thing, designing and constructing Hope Street—a residential community situated in Hampshire. This extraordinary initiative provides support to women in the justice system and their children, focusing on incorporating trauma-informed principles.

During the opening ceremony, Lady Edwina Grosvenor, the founder of One Small Thing, guided Princess Kate on an insightful tour of Hope Street. Moved by her experience and interactions with the centre’s users, Kate expressed, ‘This is an incredibly inspiring place.’

Messages of Hope

As part of the event, messages of hope were affixed to the River Birch tree located at the heart of the therapeutic garden. Kate’s message read ‘‘I see you and I am with you. Good luck in all that lies ahead. Catherine”.

With open doors and open arms, Hope Street is now fully operational, extending a warm welcome to women seeking solace within its walls.
