From the 13-19th May, it’s Mental Health Awareness Week, and at Calcinotto, we are working hard to combat the stigma of mental health in the construction sector. We feel as though this is not spoken up enough and flies under the radar too often, and when spoken about, has negative connotations that can be removed with effort.

Steps in the right direction

In order to achieve our goal of reducing said stigma, we are taking the following actions:

  • Training two of our team, Julie and Kathryn to be fully qualified Mental Health Ambassadors (qualified MHFAider, MHFAEngland)
  • Partnering with local charity Dorset Mind, who specifically focus on Mental Health. We have been in partnership since May 2023, and have had various fundraisers
  • Our big fundraiser, on the 26th May, where the team cycles 100 miles across Dorset! We have raised over £1,500 so far in aid of Mental Health.
We hope that taking these steps will encourage positive movement in the way of Mental Health, and how it is perceived in not only the construction sector, but all over the working environment!
