The Herbert Avenue development comprises 24 ‘move on’ homes, three of which are wheelchair accessible, providing inclusive housing options for a diverse community.
Challenge
Create a space for growth
This project has been brought to light to emphasise the affordable living crisis in the UK as well as in the South West. Herbert Avenue is a redevelopment of the site of the former Bourne Valley Community Centre.

Solution
A reinvention of the area
There are 15 car park spaces available, including three designated for disabled individuals, ensuring accessibility for all residents. This project was brought to fruition through a collaborative effort between the AJC Group and BCP Council. Additionally, the site has a secure bike store and a communal garden, fostering a sense of community and promoting sustainable living.
Calcinotto played a pivotal role in the project by providing comprehensive civil and structural engineering services, contributing to its successful execution.

Valued at £3.5 million, this endeavour earned recognition as the ‘best affordable development of the year’ in the South West Property Awards.
