Hoburne Naish Holiday Park is set in Highcliffe, Dorset, a high-risk area for landslips. Calcinotto were appointed on the redevelopment following a slip, and provided further preventative measures.
Challenge
Recovery of the site before peak season
The scheme was developed in response to two landslides in late 2023/2024 along the western boundary of the Holiday Park, raising concerns over the overall stability of the ground. There was the issue of commercial losses as the park could not operate in these conditions.
Calcinotto were originally appointed to address the ground failure issues but remained involved in future works adjacent to landslips to ensure new developments were integrated within the park, and did not pose additional risks to slope stability.
Solution
Integration of new and existing sites
Our civil scope improved slope stability through installation of groundwater cutoff drainage behind the rear scarps of the two recent failures, as well as the installation of sheet pile retaining walls at various positions along the boundary slope.
Our involvement in the project enabled the Park to open up more sections for commercial use in an efficient manner, ahead of timescales in line with peak seasons.
