Reflecting innovative urban planning

Building across 6 and 7 stories above street level, on an existing council owned car park whilst ensuring the rest of the community wasn’t affected throughout construction.

Solution

Blending functionality with contemporary aesthetics

Located in the heart of Bournemouth town centre, the St Stephens Road development comprises 46 high quality build-to-rent apartments, built on an existing council owned car park, providing accommodation across a pair of blocks rising 6 and 7 storeys above street level. The buildings are constructed on a podium to accommodate this challenging, sloping site and is constructed using reinforced concrete frames, utilising flat slab design techniques to minimise floor depths and facilitate the distribution of M&E services throughout the ceiling zones. A sleeved piled foundation solution was adopted to assist with overall global stability of this sloping site, in line with recommendations in the slope stability report.
