Quantum Group originally purchased this elevated hillside site in Poole with planning consent for 14 apartments and through an extensive local community engagement and planning campaign went on to achieve planning consent for 50 assisted living apartments. Each of the apartments has stylish, generous-sized rooms and many have south-facing balconies overlooking the spectacular vista of Poole Harbour, Sandbanks and beyond.
This new seven-storey development is actually embedded into the side of the hill with only the top three storeys being completely above ground. Access to the site is at 4th floor level with a podium car park and a ramp down to further parking at third floor level. The bottom four storeys are constructed using a reinforced concrete frame which then supports the upper three storeys which have been constructed using a timber frame construction. To support the ground behind the lower four levels a contiguous pile wall was provided which has then been anchored back into the ground at third points. This kept the pile sizes to a minimum and reduced the amount of space required for the piles.
